Harley is a potter creating functional ceramics at her home studio in Laurel, Mississippi.

I’m originally from and currently live in Laurel, Mississippi. Always being a maker, I started pottery by taking a hand-building ceramics course in 2015 and then started throwing pottery in 2016 while attending the University of Southern Mississippi. I quickly became obsessed with wheel-throwing after a few days on the wheel. I love the precision, process, and nuance that goes into creating functional, hand-thrown ware. I enjoy creating affordable, utilitarian art pieces that people use in their daily life - like a favorite mug used for coffee every morning.

My work frequently uses displays a mix of textures, deep colors, heavy contrast, and dimensional finishes while still embodying a minimal, clean look. While in college, atmospheric firings like wood or soda were my favorite ways to glaze pieces. I currently work with mid-range clays and glazes in an electric kiln.

Currently, I work full-time as a graphic designer, while still making pottery as often as possible in my personal studio. Please use the contact form on this site if you’d like to get in touch!
